I am really sorry you are going through this. Believe me I know. I walked in those shoes. I wish I had come to know God back then but I am grateful from having endured all I did because now God has placed me in a place to help others like you.

Anorexia, bulimia, depression, etc.…  are bondages. There is bondage from sin (our sins and generational sin) and bondage from Satan.  Bondage from sin comes when we do not forgive others or when we do not ask God for forgiveness for wrong doings we have done.  Scripture also mentions generational sin:

Numbers 14:18

The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.”

Bondage from Satan is when we also open the door to the enemy and give him the opportunity to oppress us.

So let’s take an example: A girl reading a teen magazine, talks about anorexia. She never heard of this before but now is informed. The next day someone tells her that her hips are too big. Ok, here it comes now, the idea was planted, and now it comes up. Wow I am fat, need I to lose weight but that idea she read in the magazine gets in (she gave it entry) and before she knows it…..she is purging, not eating, damaging her body, and feeling a slave to food deprivation, her looks, skinniness, etc… Now more sin occurs because we are not taking care of our body and the enemy has us exactly where he wants us, chained and bound.

God tells us we do not have to be slaves to sin.

1 Romans 8:15-5

“The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

We need to believe that Jesus is God’s son and that he was sent to die for us in order to save us.

Do not let the enemy fool you into thinking, that once an anorexic you will always be one. You will have to learn to suppress the urges. (This is what they tell you in therapy.)

God has the power to set you free. I was set free so can you. Years of therapy only left me with having to suppress urges and that’s all. God set me free completely.

“Heavenly Father, have mercy on me, a sinner. I believe in you and that your word is true. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God and that he died on the cross so that I may now have forgiveness for my sins and eternal life. I know that without you in my heart my life is meaningless.

I believe in my heart that you, Lord God, raised Him from the dead. Please Jesus forgive me, for every sin I have ever committed or done in my heart, please Lord Jesus forgive me and come into my heart as my personal Lord and Savior today. I need you to be my Father and my friend.

I give you my life and ask you to take full control from this moment on; I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ.”

Amen.

Make sure you ask those you have hurt to forgive you and forgive those you have hurt. It does not matter if you do not feel it in your heart to forgive them or ask for their forgiveness. The important part is to obey God. God will take control of the rest.
