Anonymous asked: This may sound like a petty question, but it's something I'm struggling with. I know that it says in the bible, somewhere in Romans, that we shall not conform to the patterns of this world. I really like One Direction and I think it's gotten to the point where it's beyond obsession. I just need your advice on media, especially music and celebrities. Where do we draw the line? How do I draw the line?

Obsession and the road to obsession is totally where one should draw the line. Obsession in a way IS idolizing.

Let’s see what the bible says about this:

We know that an idol is nothing at all in the world and that there is no God but one.  For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth, yet there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is none but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.”   -1 Corinthians 8:4-6

This verse tells us that idols mean nothing.  Now don’t get me wrong a person does definitely mean something, but they aren’t put there for you to worship the ground they walk on!

It’s definitely alright to  look up to a celebrity but please just don’t go so overboard that it could lead to an obsession or take Jesus place in your life.

If your having trouble with this obsession take it Jesus and ask Him to help you! I’m more then positive He’d love too!  :)

Blessings! <3

theafter-glow asked: I'm trying so hard to give over all of my life and I feel as if I'm doing really well. Some nights I may forget to read my Bible, but for the most part I'm good with that, I keep my conversations and thoughts pure, but I wanted to know is it okay that I still listen to secular music? It's nothing bad and I don't let it cut in with my time with God, I really just listen to it during my commute to school. Thanks! I love this blog!

That’s absolutely wonderful! Super duper awesome sauce! :)

Giving your all means surrendering absolutely everything.

It’s not something easy to do.. but it’s nothing that God isn’t able to overcome in a person. It takes desire, faith and self-spiritual death.

 JOHN 15:4 // GALATIANS 2:20

I belong to my lover, and his desire is for me. Song of Soloman 7:10

God wants the best for us. He also wants the best from us.

I feel like secular music is something that just holds us back from what God really wants from us. Yeah, they’re pretty melodies but they carry meaningless words that don’t help to edify or grow spiritually. It doesn’t get us anywhere in our relationship with God.

I think that it’s something that people need to really let go of.

You’ll be surprised. It’s in that moment, when you let go of all those things, to really life a life for Christ. To live selflessly and worship really praise your maker.. it’s in that moment when God really begins to work in your life.  As everything gets turn upside down and inside out.

The world as you know it will be turned on it’s head.

God gave what was most dearest to Him, His Son Jesus, to step down into this broken world of ours.. to live a perfect life.. to die as a perfect sacrifice, to perfect some pretty imperfect people.

How could we possible not give up a few things..? Especially when it’s going to make life even better.

bless you cool kid.

lawrencebottle asked: What do you think of "christian" artists and bands with members who have tattoos and piercings? I've always thought about this.

I don’t think anything of it. I know people who are against tattoos but have them; they got them at a different time in their life. There are also Christian artists who do not feel tattoos are wrong. I believe it’s more important to focus on Jesus than focus on the many small things in the lives of others.

Also, I do not believe piercings are wrong.

This does not say that I accept everything. There are “Christian” artists who I do not listen to because they have a really poor witness, bad fruit, and the substance of their art isn’t any different from worldly stuff.

franticcurls asked: Hello! I'm a singer and have been told many times by pastors that God is going to use my voice. So I decided to try and wait on the Lord and let Him prepare me. Right now though, I'm struggling with my faith and unbelief and in that I have started to write some music. Is it wrong for me to sing music other than gospel/inspirational as a christian? Can I write love songs? Songs that don't mean anything? Because I am waiting for a God who probably won't come because i don't know if i want Him..

As a singer and musician I think I can tell you with 90% certainty what this is:
No, it isn’t wrong to write music like that. People get their spiritual britches all up in a wad over this, but God instituted love. People get so religious and act like everything you do MUST be geared around the throne of God. When we look at God’s original creation, he gave Adam Eve to be a companion, he even blessed them to be fruitful and multiply. So no, writing a few love songs isn’t bad. However, what’s going on here is that the enemy is trying to distract you from what God has for you. Don’t let these other songs cloud out what God wants to do. I believe God gives us gifts in order to have a positive impact on the world and to change the world around us.

Even more than all of that, God wants a personal, intimate relationship with you.

Anonymous asked: hi! I'm a christian girl and i listen to one direction and find most of them attractive but not to the point where it's lust. I was just curious to know your opinions on whether that's right or wrong. I personally don't over obsess with them, because I know that it can be time consuming.

I don’t think it’s wrong to find someone attractive. Yeah, lusting is, but just finding someone attractive isn’t wrong. Also, if you aren’t obsessed and don’t feel wrong about listening to them and if their music isn’t bad (I’m not familiar with them as I’m in the US) then there’s nothing wrong.

Anonymous asked: listening to certain music "attracts demons?" so now the church is going to say not to listen to gaga, perry, rihanna, etc.? come on. I've been in the church my whole life, but that is just. ridiculous.

It doesn’t “attract” demons, it opens the doorway in your life.

Aside from that, it’s common sense not to listen to things that contain things that are contrary to the Spirit. One person I ministered to didn’t understand why they were having so much sexual temptation yet they were listening to Rude Boy by Rihanna. What you sow into your mind you will reap. Galatians 6:8. I’m not saying all secular music is bad. I hear people all the time telling me how they’re having a hard time with profanity and they don’t know why… yet the music they listen to and is filled with it.
