Anonymous asked: For the people who are talking about anxiety and depression and such things, sometimes it is best to see a doctor. How can God help you if you don't help yourself? If it's bad enough to be affecting your life, then go to a doctor, and they can give you some kind of medication or something to help you. Of course, trust in God will get you through hard times, but sometimes if medical help is available, you should accept it. I hope things work out for y'all
Jesus replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. - matthew 8:26
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.- matthew 11.28
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our sins; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed. -isaiah 53.5
The lost are found, the blind will see, the lame will walk, the dead will live, the deaf will hear and those who have leprosy are cured. - matthew 11:5
Jesus: I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. I have overcome it all - john 16:33
Until we have complete faith in God will we be able to move forward. We say we give our troubles to God but then we take them back. In this way, we are not really trusting and cannot heal. It is not until we learn to really understand what God did for us when he died on that cross that we can truly give up our problems, sickness, hardships, afflictions etc.. and not take them back.
Pray for your faith to be increased.
Anonymous asked: What are your thoughts on "we should fear God"? I'm confused about this. Why would we want to fear him? :( Thank you, I love your blog so much!
For the unbeliever, the fear of God is the fear of the judgment of God and eternal death, which is eternal separation from God (Luke 12:5; Hebrews 10:31). For the believer, the fear of God is something much different. The believer’s fear is reverence of God. Hebrews 12:28-29 is a good description of this: “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our ’God is a consuming fire.’” This reverence and awe is exactly what the fear of God means for Christians. This is the motivating factor for us to surrender to the Creator of the Universe.
Proverbs 1:7 declares, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge.” Until we understand who God is and develop a reverential fear of Him, we cannot have true wisdom. True wisdom comes only from understanding who God is and that He is holy, just, and righteous. Deuteronomy 10:12, 20-21records, “And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Fear the LORD your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name. He is your praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.” The fear of God is the basis for our walking in His ways, serving Him, and, yes, loving Him.
Some redefine the fear of God for believers to “respecting” Him. While respect is definitely included in the concept of fearing God, there is more to it than that. A biblical fear of God, for the believer, includes understanding how much God hates sin and fearing His judgment on sin—even in the life of a believer. Hebrews 12:5-11 describes God’s discipline of the believer. While it is done in love (Hebrews 12:6), it is still a fearful thing. As children, the fear of discipline from our parents no doubt prevented some evil actions. The same should be true in our relationship with God. We should fear His discipline, and therefore seek to live our lives in such a way that pleases Him.
Believers are not to be scared of God. We have no reason to be scared of Him. We have His promise that nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39). We have His promise that He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Fearing God means having such a reverence for Him that it has a great impact on the way we live our lives. The fear of God is respecting Him, obeying Him, submitting to His discipline, and worshipping Him in awe.

Anonymous asked: Hi, IfI am saved and baptised why dont I feel saved sometimes? like sometimes I dont entirely feel saved. and I am baptised and have said the sinners prayer:( this year has been rly hard please pray for me! Ive been so down and unmotivated!
Jesus said “Draw near to me and I will draw near to you.”
And I believe tonight that he’s going to meet you right where you’re at.
The truth is, life isn’t a free ride. We all go through seasons, we all face troubles and face heartache. But just as he holds the universe in his hands, he holds your heart too. and He knows you and He cares about you.
He knows your burdens. He knows your fears. He knows your troubles. He knows your dreams. He knows your desires… He knows you. and He loves you.
And I think about the fact that the reason we can have this moment, talking about this — is all because of a moment that took place two thousand odd years ago. when God, the God of the universe. Seeing us, knowing us, knowing that we would fail him time and time again. Knowing that we would make a mess of things, still loved us enough in advanced to give what was most dearest to him, his Son Jesus, to step down into this broken world of ours and to live a perfect life and to die as a perfect sacrifice to perfect some very imperfect people.
And the bible says that in that moment, he did everything that he needed to be done for everyone.
And I feel as if we think, maybe God feels distant or you don’t feel good enough for God, but I want you to hear this.
None of us are good enough. That’s why we all need Jesus. It’s because of what he did on that cross that we’ve been made righteous in God’s eyes.
It doesn’t matter what you’ve done. It doesn’t mater what you’ve been through. It doesn’t matter what’s happened to you. He loves you.
When He died upon that cross, it was as much for you as it was for anybody.
Open your heart to God and trust in Him. The bible tells us that God likes our honesty (Psalm 145:18). He loves when we’re truthful with them.
Be honest with him and tell him what burdens you, what makes you doubt. Tell him how you want to give yourself in more and have more faith in him. Ask him to work in your heart and help you in strengthening your relationship with him. Ask God to keep your heart in purity.
And take heart, because God is in control. And He’s going to work in your life beyond what you could ever think.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart, for I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33

I know that my relationship with my boyfriend can produce so many amazing things for God, and lately I've been making major changes in my life in order to be a better girlfriend, a better Christian and a better witness. I'm just feeling like I'm in some sort of identity crisis right now since I've been changing so much about my life that was wrong and I'm so disconnected from everyone at this point, it's scary and hard. :(

There’s so much to say about God, but you know what? I really love the thought that he’s the one who holds the universe. And looking down upon it, he doesn’t see a crowd or a sea of people. He doesn’t see that.. he sees you. And he knows you. He knows your troubles, your burdens, your worries, your dreams and your desires. He knows you, and He loves you more than anything. And I whole heartedly believe that on this very night, he’s right there by your side.
Maybe you’re going through some pretty big changes but the truth is, God’s molding you into the person he needs you to be so that you can be that lamp stand on the hilltop, shining and reflecting his light and his glory within and throughout the cities. He’s taking your hands and making them clean. He’s keeping your heart in purity. He’s taking your moments and your days and working in your life so that you can be someone who is dedicated to being his hands and being his feet. And I feel in my heart that God wants me to tell you that you need to read his word more than before, because it is going to edify you and strengthen you.
Physically speaking: When we’re weak, we need food for strength.
In the spiritual world, God’s word is strength when our spirits are weak, broken or feeling drained.
I really encourage you to download this and follow through with it;

Trust in God, friend. He is your strong tower. He will never fail you and he’ll never let you down. Just know that through it all, he’s with you, and all this change will be for his glory and for his praise.
Everythings gonna be alright. :)
Anonymous asked: Your answer to the question about the heart being a deceiver was wonderful. Thank you so much. Lately, I've been feeling a disconnect from everyone - but especially God and my boyfriend. I don't want to feel this way, and I do love them both, it just feels different and I don't like it. I've spent a few days in tears because of the numbness in my heart and I just really want to be able to get back to loving everyone properly. Could you please pray that I rely on God and not my feelings? (Cont.)

You have to, have to, have to read your bible!
Don’t put off reading your bible for more then two months or one month, or even 3 weeks. What I’m about to write is going to be very nerdyish but heck with it, I’m a nerd and I really don’t care.
Just like a car needs gasoline to run on, you need your spiritual fuel to run on, that spirituel fuel being your bible, so fuel up and read!
There is not other way you will stop feeling “weak” if you don’t get your energy from where you need it most readin your bible. READ ON!
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.” - 2 Timothy 3:16-17

I was doing so good and reading everyday, stopped cursing, I haven't had depression like before and God was really blessing me in my life but recently I just feel like everything is going downhill. I just got a job and everyone curses all the time and talks gross and I have to hear that and it just sickens me. I started cussing again and I hate it. I just don't know what to do :( I feel like I'm ALWAYS messing up and I don't want God to hate me :(
We have great posts here: http://bearhugsforjesus.tumblr.com/tagged/Relationship+With+God
Keep fighting the good fight and continuously bring all thoughts to His feet. There is no easy way of fighting!
It is tough but not impossible! With God all things are possible!
You have to be even more careful since you are surrounded by those people all the time.
I personally leave the conversation when people do that. They realize why I do so. Over the months they have stopped saying stuff in front of me!
Anonymous asked: Hello :) First, I want to say that I really like this blog, and secondly I wanted to ask some advice. I have a relationship with God, but it isn't anywhere close to where it needs to be. I try to pray as much as I can, but sometimes I feel like I'm not saying the right thing or something. I know there isn't really a "wrong" way to pray, but do you have any suggestions or maybe some bible verses about prayer?
Gnarly stuff bro/brosis! It means heaps to us that this blog is helping people out in their walk with God. Glory to God for all of that! :D
When we say “I know that You’re with me.” It’s a true confession. God with us. He says He’s with us till the end of the age. And that’s the truth.
The prayers of a righteous person are EFFECTIVE and VERY POWERFUL!
We are the righteous. We’ve all been made righteous through Christ Jesus. [Romans 5:1]. Friend, you have been made righteous!
Just know that your prayers are more than effective and powerful.
Believe that God hears your prayers and believe that your prayers are just as good as anyone else’s.
Jesus said, “draw near to me and I’ll draw near to you.” [James 4.8]. And so, I really believe that God is going to meet you where you’re at tonight, and He’s going to teach you how to pray.
theafter-glow asked: I'm trying so hard to give over all of my life and I feel as if I'm doing really well. Some nights I may forget to read my Bible, but for the most part I'm good with that, I keep my conversations and thoughts pure, but I wanted to know is it okay that I still listen to secular music? It's nothing bad and I don't let it cut in with my time with God, I really just listen to it during my commute to school. Thanks! I love this blog!
That’s absolutely wonderful! Super duper awesome sauce! :)
Giving your all means surrendering absolutely everything.
It’s not something easy to do.. but it’s nothing that God isn’t able to overcome in a person. It takes desire, faith and self-spiritual death.
JOHN 15:4 // GALATIANS 2:20
I belong to my lover, and his desire is for me. Song of Soloman 7:10
God wants the best for us. He also wants the best from us.
I feel like secular music is something that just holds us back from what God really wants from us. Yeah, they’re pretty melodies but they carry meaningless words that don’t help to edify or grow spiritually. It doesn’t get us anywhere in our relationship with God.
I think that it’s something that people need to really let go of.
You’ll be surprised. It’s in that moment, when you let go of all those things, to really life a life for Christ. To live selflessly and worship really praise your maker.. it’s in that moment when God really begins to work in your life. As everything gets turn upside down and inside out.
The world as you know it will be turned on it’s head.
God gave what was most dearest to Him, His Son Jesus, to step down into this broken world of ours.. to live a perfect life.. to die as a perfect sacrifice, to perfect some pretty imperfect people.
How could we possible not give up a few things..? Especially when it’s going to make life even better.
bless you cool kid.

Anonymous asked: So I've been pretty down in the dumps lately. And I feel a disconnect from God. This lenten season I am trying to improve myself, do things that will bring me closer to God. I am super excited about it, I hope it brings me to life again, but the one thing I have always struggled with is, How do I know if what I am doing is enough for him. No human can know exactly how God works, so I get strung up on the details. Help? Scripture advice? Words of wisdom??
Hi! :)
I understand why you’re doing lent, but to be honest.. we shouldn’t only focus on our relationship with Christ during this season. I truly believe that we should examine our relationship with Christ every single day not just on man made traditions.
Focusing on our relationship with Christ everyday is how we become closer to God. This is how your relationship with Him maintains strong.
Ask the Holy Spirit into your heart and ask Him to lead you. The Holy Spirit will tell you if what you’re doing is enough for God.

“And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?” - Deuteronomy 10:12-13
As you can see Moses told us that there are a few ways in which we could please God.
- Having Fear of God. (Proverbs 9:10)
- Always walk in God’s ways. (Colossians 1:10)
- Love God. (Luke 10:27)
- Serve Him with all your heart and soul. (Luke 10:27)
- Observe His commands. (Luke 1:6)
&on top of all this make sure you have faith because..
“without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” - Hebrews 11:6
God bless you!! & I’m praying for you <3
