noeliachristine asked: So I was wondering if you can tell me of any good fast besides the Daniel fast? I really want to fast and pray for 1 lost family members and friends to be saved 2 Sex trafficking victims and 3 What ministry God would like me to join (I just moved not long ago) Thank you for your help! :)

Hi there are different ways to fast! :)

Not all the time does one have to fast from food, but you could also fast from the things you like or love to do.

For example if you love using the computer, then you could fast from using the computer. This mean no tumblr (and other sites you usually visit) for as long as your fast is. hahah. See that’s a huge sacrifice!! :)

But if you need to use the computer for school purposes then you can.. just don’t visit sites other websites other then the ones you need to.

Here are some more example:

If you like sports and play sports a lot then fast from sports, If you you like to listen to music then fast from listening to music, If you like watching tv (this is something you regularly do) then fast from tv, etc.

Anonymous asked: Hiya! I'm wanting to fast to become more dependent on God and his strength and less on what the world gives us. I've read your previous posts on fasting, and they're really helpful. I was just wondering as you said that it is between you and God which I totally get, but does that mean it's not ok to tell people, like my flatmates if they as k about why I'm not eating that day or not going on internet etc? Just checking :)

Hello!! :D

You could tell people why you’re fasting and praying just as long as you don’t go on bragging about it or make it abnormally noticeable.

“When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting.” - Matthew 6:16

Anonymous asked: I want to fast to get get closer relationship with God, how do i properly fast and what does fasting consist of?

That’s awesome news buddy!

Spiritual fasting is not just about giving up food or other items, but it’s about feeding the spirit through our obedience to God. That’s key.

But it also means giving up something that you spend most of your day doing, such as telly, interweb, reading a book, talking on the phone, food and replacing that time with doing something for God, like praying, reading your bible, writing a worship song/poem for God etc.

Fasting has to come from your heart. You have to have desire and ambition to do it.

Make sure you give up something that isn’t easy for you to give up doing.

Telling God you’re going to fast for Him counts as a compromise. Make sure to do you best to hold up your part of the bargain.

Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. Matthew 6:16 (NKJV)

Fasting. Keep it between you and God.

We have some other great posts on fasting. Check them out here!

God bless you!

bl-essed asked: A really important question just got struck me,what does fasting do? I use to fast for the 40 hour famine, but one time my grandad had to fast tv cuz of something/someone in our church who was possessed by the devil, what does fasting have to do with that? I'm kind of confused?

Fasting and prayer is one of the most powerful spiritual combinations on earth. True fasting brings humility and alignment with God. It breaks the power of flesh and demons. It kills unbelief and brings answers to prayer when nothing else works.

It has been well said that prayer is not preparation for the battle - prayer IS the battle. And of all the things we can do to enhance the power and focus of prayer, fasting is doubtless the most potent.

This is where the power is at, because fasting puts us in harmony with an All Powerful God who demands humility from those who wish to be close to Him. Fasting humbles the flesh. When it is done for that purpose, it pleases the Spirit of God.

You can go a certain distance in God, and experience many things, without fasting much, but the highest, richest and most powerful blessings always go to those who together with other disciplines, fast much unto God. The most significant Biblical characters, with the possible exception of Abraham, were all men of fasting and prayer. Jesus, the Son of God, was a man of fasting and prayer (Matthew 4:2). So was the apostle Paul (2 Corinthians 11:27). Moses fasted 80 days. Elijah fasted 40 days. The early church fasted before starting any major work.

God wants to do many amazing things, but He looks for those willing to urgently make the corrections needed to come into line with him.God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Successful fasting is also the fastest way to learn patience. It takes patience and endurance to fast for more than a day. Many of God’s tests come quicker to us when we fast, and we have a better opportunity to pass them. If we want to go far with God we would have to face these tests anyway, but much later, and in a more time consuming and difficult way.

Fasting gives you God’s focus for your life. It is a major key to hearing God’s voice (the other is true worship - the two are related). We need focus from God more than anything. The world we live in is working overtime to distract us, to entice us, to win our hearts and minds, our focus, and to determine our vision. Fasting cuts out the world so we can tune into God. If we are obedient to God fasting will make us catalysts for revival and awakening.

Hope this helps!

Be Blessed

Anonymous asked: Heey, I asked a question previously about a friend who said he had made a pact with the devil, You said that I should fast and pray about it? Does fasting literally mean I have to stop eating for certain periods of time?

Yes!! You should fast & pray about it!!!

You could fast from food. Waking up and not eating anything or drinking anything except water for a couple of hours. could be from 8:00am-4:00pm or longer if you prefer.

If you don’t want to fast from food, that’s totally fine. You could fast from something you do everyday.  If you watch tv everyday, you could fast from television (1 whole day without watching tv), or you could fast from the computer (1 whole day without using the computer), ect.

During your fast read your bible, pray, and or worship. &You don’t have to do this the whole time your fasting.

God bless!!! <3

Anonymous asked: hey guys I've got a question , let's say I'm fasting from 6 in the morning till 3 in the afternoon. but I slept for 2 hours while I'm still fasting. so does it still count that I fasted the whole 9 hours? or did I fast 2 hours less than what I normally would? thanks!

If you were going to fast from 6am - 3pm and you woke up at 8am fasted until 3pm then you only fasted for 7hrs and not the whole 9hrs.

But if you woke up at 6am fasted until 3pm and fell asleep while you were fasting then that’s fine. You did fast for 9hrs.

Hopefully I didn’t make this confusing. & sorry if I did.

God bless!!! <3

Anonymous asked: I've been praying a lot about my family getting saved and it hasn't happened! I have heard talk about fasting.. what is this and why should I do it??

Fasting is sacrificing food etc and spending time in the word and prayer. Fasting isn’t something we do to change God. One big reason to fast is to grow sensitive to God’s Spirit, or to get direction and clarity in life. Fasting isn’t limited to food. Paul talks about married couples fasting sex. We can also fast things such as Facebook. Food fasts can include a full fast where you just drink water, a fast from sunup to sundown, the Daniel fast of eating only fruits and vegetables, and etc. Fasts can last one day or many, such as a 21 day fast or a 40 day fast.

You can fast and pray for your family, and gain sensitivity on how to minister to them.
I’d also advise patience. God is already doing something in the lives of your loved ones. This kind of stuff usually doesn’t happen over night. I prayed for a friend of mine for months.

Anonymous asked: have you ever fast ? well my church is fasting and i wanted to know some advice or suggestion

My church does a corporate 21 day fast to start out every year. This year we are beginning on the 8th. Last year I fasted every other day and the day I’d eat would be one small meal after midnight (my schedule I stay up until 3 or 4 am). Here is some good stuff on fasting from Jentezen Franklin, one of the current leading teachers on fasting.

I will say this: some think fasting is about changing God but really, fasting is about changing us. During the fast we should be praying, studying the word, seeing God, etc. The result is a renewed sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. God does honor fasts and things we pray about he answers; I think partially it’s our increased faith in result to the fast. One of the results of last year’s fast wasn’t even something I really prayed much about, I guess someone else was praying for me; that result being a sudden ability to sing. I could sing before but couldn’t project and could only keep pitch in certain keys.

I encourage you to join your church. Decide what it is you wish to devote to God. Some even fast things such as Facebook and use that with a food fast, they use the time they’d been on Facebook to pray and such.
