Anonymous asked: I know this is a repeatedly asked question. Im addicted to pornography and masturbation and every time i do this i feel so remorseful and guilty so i ask god for his forgiveness and mercy but the problem is i keep on repeating this sin over and over even though i tell myself i shouldnt do it again. HELP : desperate 15 year old guy.

Hey anon!

You know friend, The hardest part is admitting your sin.

Masturbation is lust based. And lust is a very heavy spirit that is attacking many people across the earth. But the good news is that it’s not something that can’t be overcome with God’s help.

Jesus said that if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. For it’s better to enter eternal life with only one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell. (Matthew 18:9) Now I know that sounds pretty violent but what He point He was trying to get across is that if you’re dealing with something that is keeping you from God (masturbation) and because it’s building a spiritual distance between you and God, you need to get up and DEAL WITH IT VIOLENTLY. You need to tell the enemy, “I don’t care what you say or what you’re tempting me to do but I’m not going to do it! I REFUSE TO FALL INTO THIS SIN AGAIN AND I WON’T FALL INTO THIS SIN AGAIN ‘CAUSE JESUS IS WITH ME AND WHILE I MAY BE WEAK, HE IS STRONG. AND GOD WILL PROVE STRONG IN MY WEAKNESS. CASE AND POINT.”

And begin reading your Bible more. God’s word is your sword against all demons and all temptations and all evil things (Psalms & Proverbs). And above all things. Ask God to help you. I have no doubt that what you’re going through has already been overcome, but you need to just believe it and start working hard for it. Ask God to guide you and to help you get closer to Him at a full surrender. And when you do that, you’ll see you got a stronger side over any type of lust.

God knows your heart. We’ll be keeping you in prayer for strength, kid.

“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”Matthew 19:26

Get your bible, open it up to  Philippians 4:13, highlight it, make a memo of it and live by it.

It’s a tough battle but I know you can make it through with Jesus help. Just don’t give up and keep on trying and keep on asking God for help.

thechapelblog asked: For the anon that was asking about masturbation - even if you aren't having explicitly sexual thoughts at the time, you're still gratifying the flesh: "So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature." Galatians 5:16. Basically, what you're doing is gratifying yourself, not God. This may be the perfect opportunity to learn to exercise self-control! (2 Timothy 1:7). Sorry, just wanted to add my two cents!

No problem, kid!

Thanks for adding on! :)

Anonymous asked: is it wrong to masturbate if you're not doing it with lustful/sexual thoughts?

Is it possible to make pickles without cucumbers? It it possible to make potato chips without potatoes? Is it possible to make orange juice without oranges or lemonade without lemons? Is it possible to masturbate without thinking about sex?

case and point.

Don’t be deceived, bro/dally (James 1:16, 2 Thessalonians 2:3 and Proverbs 22:25)

Masturbation is all based off of lust. And lust is like a weed in a yard that will do anything possible to kill off the good plants. Don’t let it ravel its vines around your heart and take hold of your emotions.

I encourage you to look to God’s word and surrender your life completely to Him and He’ll prove strong in your life. Chase hard after His heart and you’ll find soon enough that you don’t need things like masturbation to “feel good”. God has way better for you than that.

We’ll be praying for you, kid.

Anonymous asked: Hi, it's the first time I'm posting a request on tumblr but I don't know what to do anymore. I'm a 20 yr old girl, and i have been masturbating for as long as I can remember, maybe 10 years. I've been trying so hard to break free, but I keep falling back in. I need someone to pray for me, and I don't think I'll ever have the guts to tell a leader or anyone at all, so if I may ask, could you pray for me, please? I'm so devastated right now, and I'm desperate for a breakthrough. Thank you so much

The reason why you can’t break free is because you’re trying to do it alone. What you need to do is pray and ask God for help. Only He can set you free. What you have is a bondage. Masturbation is a Bondage.

When you pray, pray with the authority that Christ has given you. (Luke 9:1, 2). Pray in Jesus in name, He has already set you free all sin. Declare in His name that you are free His blood has set you free..

Prayer is a very powerful weapon. One of the main reasons as to why you keep falling into this sin is because you feel tied to it . I tell you right now that you are not. Declare in Jesus name, sin you have no power over me. I pray you may be filled with His holy spirit.

Jesus, I pray you give her Boldness and faith. Lord, I pray you destroy all the chains in her life. Give her the self control only you CAN give her.

Anon, when you feel tempted to fall into this sin, pray. When you start feeling thoughts that you know are not of yours (that lead you to masturbate) pray, ask God for strength to fight. He will give you the strength you need. He will help you fight this battle. You are not alone, God is with you.. and He wants you to be free. Fight off sin with the word. Read your bible and when you feel tempted quote scripture.

Read through our tags on temptation and masturbation.

God Bless you anon.

Anonymous asked: hey. I'm just going to be open about this, I've learned that masturbating is a sin. and i cant stop doing it. I'm not addicted or anything. i only do it like once every couple weeks or so. but . i don't understand how , if god loves us, its made so easy for us to sin. it breaks my heart. then i have to go confess that i did it again. and how does jesus forgive me ? i love him & i feel bad that i do that

Many times we have the attitude of “If God gave me this body, shouldn’t I be able to enjoy it?” First of all, we have to remember that sex is God’s invention. He is the mastermind behind it. This beautiful expression of love was created out of God’s own heart as a gift to be experienced between a husband and wife. As we’ve already said, it is only in marriage that this expression of intimacy can be fully enjoyed to the degree and depth for which it was created.

Hebrews 13:4 reads “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”

The more beautiful and unique something is (like sexual intercourse), the more power it holds over our lives, either as a good or bad influence. That is why it is so easy for the devil to corrupt the most precious of God’s gifts. God created sex so that we could become one with our husband or wife. Masturbation is a selfish act where we take advantage of and abuse God’s gift.

God cares about what we do with our bodies, in public or in private, and He doesn’t want us to abuse ourselves in any way.

Did you know that in older dictionaries the definition of the word masturbation is “self-abuse”? And if you were to look in a current dictionary under the word self-abuse, the word “masturbation” would be the second definition given. To this day, the two words are linked together, masturbation/self-abuse.

You might be thinking, “How am I abusing myself by doing this?” We are abusing ourselves by masturbating because we are improperly handling something that God entrusted to our care. We are taking something that God gave us (our bodies and minds) and using them in a perverse manner. When masturbating, you are defiling your mind with obscene thoughts and then defiling your body by using it to act out those thoughts. To “defile” something means “to make unclean, to make impure.” Matthew 15:19-20a reads, “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications …these are the things which defile a man.”

And I believe that we all already know in our hearts that masturbating is wrong. When you engage in this activity, you soon after feel a sense of guilt and shame. This activity does not lift you up spiritually. It brings you down. God did not create our sexual organs so that we could fantasize and have sex by ourselves. God created sexual pleasure as something to be shared and experienced between two people — a husband and a wife.

Now, you might be thinking, “Well, isn’t it still better to masturbate than to commit fornication?” Maybe in your mind you feel that it is better to masturbate because at least you are the only one involved. Maybe you believe that it is the “lesser” of two evils.

Well, I don’t believe that our loving, holy, all-powerful God wants us to be in situations where we have to choose any evil, whether it be “lesser” or “greater.” God doesn’t want you to be involved with sin at all!

And now let’s look at some reasons why masturbating is no better than fornicating. First of all, masturbation will not truly relieve the sexual pressure that you may feel. It may for a short moment, but in the long run it only creates a deeper desire and capacity for sex, which will lead to more masturbation and, ultimately, the desire for sexual intercourse.

James 1:14-15 tells us, “Every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin; and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” This verse is telling us that all sin begins with a thought, but that when we give in to the thought and act out the sin, we will sink deeper and deeper into sin. Sin always takes you farther than you wanted to go and keeps you longer than you wanted to stay.

And with masturbation, there is a vicious circle. You are only temporarily satisfied. And the more you indulge in this activity, the more addicted you become to it. Then if you let yourself become enslaved to a sexual high, you will find that you need to go to increasingly extreme acts to maintain the same degree of excitement. In John 8:34, Jesus warns us, “Verily, verily I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.”

So, again, masturbation is a dangerous activity to engage in for this reason: All sexual immorality, including masturbation, begins with a thought. Then a lustful thought not taken captive will eventually lead to other perversions, because sin reproduces itself if left unchecked. When we fantasize and masturbate, we open our hearts and minds up to strange and perverse thoughts and possibilities. We are giving the devil an open invitation to take residence in our beings. If we do not deal with our evil thoughts, they will take root in our heart. It is for this reason that God is so concerned with our thought life. Jesus came not only to deliver us from our “outward” sins, but also from wickedness that begins in the heart.

So we are to control our actions with others and also our actions when alone. We are not to let sin take root in our hearts. Romans 6:12-14 tells us, “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin; but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you; for ye are not under the law, but under grace.”

Your “members” in this verse is referring to the different parts of your body: your hands, feet, fingers, etc. Are you using your body in a way that you think would make God proud?

Now, you may be thinking “It is unfair for God to demand sexual purity from us after giving us sexual drives that seem to overwhelm us.” To that I say that God never demands from us something that would be impossible for us to do. True, you may feel weak within yourself, but He will equip you with His holy power to overcome any sin if only you ask in faith.

Some of you are probably saying, “Well, I agree with all of this in my head, but living it out on a day-to-day basis is another story.” Perhaps you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the temptations that you face. But never underestimate the power that you have over sin. On your own you might not be that strong, but with God’s power, you can overcome.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 reads, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

These verses are telling us that we are not helpless. We can fight and be victorious against our sexual thoughts and desires. If you want to stop masturbating and you realize that this is what your Heavenly Father desires of you, you can. Confess this sin to God and ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen you so that you can have control over your lustful thoughts and actions. And if you have a Christian friend whom you trust, ask that person to pray for you in this area, also.

And if you slip occasionally or even a lot, don’t give up. Self-control takes effort. If you truly want to stop masturbating, one thing that you should consider doing is to flee from and reject those things that will cause you to stumble, whether it be sexually-themed movies, music, books, videos, anything that fills your mind with images and words that will make you weak and vulnerable.

Anonymous asked: I'm having a problem with master bation and porn I want to stop but I don't know how I feel so ashamed and I'm scared to continue trying to find god because I'm blantly doing it

The most important thing above all is to keep seeking for God no matter what and never to stop doing that. Without God you being free from masturbation and pornography is never going to happen. God is the only one who can liberate you from all the things the world ties us down with. Trust God and don’t stop. There is nothing you can do or nowhere you can be to hide from God.

“Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?” declares the LORD. “Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the LORD.”  - Jeremiah 23:24

The truth is you really do need God, we all do. Ask Jesus to help you and set you free from these chains that have you tied down. Sincerely with all your heart and out loud pray and ask Jesus for this every single day and whenever you can.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” - Matthew 7:7

Jesus wants to set you free, but please don’t run and hide from Him. We’ll keep you in our prayers, friend. God bless you! We love you and God loves you more then you could ever imagine.  :)

Freedom from Pornography - James’ Testimony

Anonymous asked: OK, So I am a senior in high school, who has been addicted to pornography and masturbation since 8th grade. I tried to get off it but the efforts have been to no avail. Also, I have a gf that is unsaved. I have completely fallen off the path. Even when I am with her it feels like I am not. In addition, I have heard all the sermons about unequally yoked, etc. and all the run away from porn sermons etc. I just cant seem to get away. What do i do? smh

“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” - 1 Corinthians 10:13

When you get tempted into watching pornography, masturbation, or any temptation, God will always provide a way out for you.

God tells us to flee from temptation, knowing this is not enough if you do not apply this to your life. Next time you’re tempted try to distract yourself by praying, reading your bible, going for a walk, playing a video game, reading a book, etc.

Also, if you truly long to be set free of masturbation and pornography, then you need to sincerely cry out to Jesus becuase it’s only through Him that we will be truly free.

Anonymous asked: I know you already have a section for masturbation but none of them seem to have this question. My problem is that I try so hard not to masturbate and I pray to god to help me through it. Most of the times he does. but there are those times where I just do it. So my main point here is does God still forgive me even though I keep on repeating the same sin? I've been repeating this sin for almost 4 years. and I pray for forgivness but I i've asked for forgiveness for the same sin over and over.

Hi! c:

God calls us to repent of all our sins, so that all our sins can be wiped away. When we repent God wipes the slate clean and keeps no record of our wrong doings. (Acts 3:19, Psalm 51:1, Hebrews 8:12, Jeremiah 31:31-34)

The Word of God tells us that God is just and faithful to forgive all our sins if we confess them to Him.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” - 1 John 1:9

“Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven.” -Matthew 18:21-22

Now, when Jesus says to forgive someone 7 times 70, He wasn’t limiting forgiveness to 490 times. But what /he was implying is to always forgive those who offend you no matter the number of times they offend you. This means God will do just the same.

There is no limit to God’s forgiveness even if it’s for the same sin, but please keep in mind that this should not encourage us to keep on sinning or keep committing the same sin over and over again on purpose. We don’t encourage anyone to do this because even though God will forgive you, scripture also tells us that God will not be mocked.

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” - Galatians 6:7

We strongly encourage you to read some of our posts on how to deal with temptation: http://bearhugsforjesus.tumblr.com/tagged/temptation

God Bless!!!
